Welcome to the Ann Arbor Carolina Club (A2C2, as we affectionately know it),
the University of North Carolina’s first Carolina Club serving Southeastern Michigan!
Beginning in Spring 2016, Brooke Wolford, ’13 – our current president and a Ph.D. pre-candidate in Ann Arbor – sought to launch A2C2 to bring Tar Heel alumni in the area together, and began assembling a broad group of alumni to serve an annual term as our Leadership Team. This year, our leadership team is focused on organizing events and helping to connect our alumni. Stay tuned for more information about our leadership team and information on how you can get involved – there will be lots of opportunities to get involved and help support your fellow Tar Heels.
While our leadership team is based in Ann Arbor, we serve a broader swathe of Southeastern Michigan, including the counties of Washtenaw, Oakland, Monroe, Livingston, Jackson, Lewanee, and Wayne: an area accounting for over 210 alumni with their addresses currently registered with the GAA (but there are certainly more in the area who only need to update their address to get involved.)
We’re asking alumni to do two things this year:
help us spread the word about A2C2, and come re-live the Tar Heel spirit!
Tar Heels born, bred, and dead have the energy and vibrance to make something truly priceless happen in SE Michigan, and our goal is that our club can rise in status to a Bell Tower Club. For our first few months, we’re focusing on social events – happy hours and game watch parties – and philanthropic events to support our Tar Heels and local community and, most importantly of all, getting as many Tar Heels in Michigan involved as the club grows.
Helping us spread the word about the emergence of A2C2 and joining us for events will be the best way to get involved and help us grow the club. Sharing our Facebook page to your fellow alumni and asking alumni you know to opt-in to our mailing list will help us most to grow the club! We’re planning events far in advance so as many Tar Heels in Michigan can attend, and we’ll be looking to expand our reach beyond Southeastern Michigan as our club grows.
