2016-2017 Year in Review

Dear Ann Arbor Carolina Club,

Thanks to all of you, we had an amazing first year! In September 2016, we kicked off the school year with a He’s Not at Bill’s Beer Garden Happy Hour complete with He’s Not Blue Cups and lots of young alumni. In November we had our first game-watch party for the UNC vs. Duke football game. In December, Susan and Ritch Allison hosted A2C2 for a Holiday Party and we raised over $3,000 for a Carolina Covenant Internship Scholarship. Our scholarship sponsored a young woman working for Tone Works Music Therapy in Minneapolis, MN this summer. We hope to sponsor and provide mentoring to UNC students participating in local summer internships in the years to come. We kicked off basketball season with a game-watch party for our February match up versus Duke. We went on to host game-watch parties throughout March Madness (special thanks to our hosts at BTB Cantina and Good Time Charley’s in Ann Arbor). On April 3, 2017, UNC won the National Championship and although we weren’t jumping fires on Franklin Street, A2C2 alumni turned Ann Arbor Carolina blue!

As we look forward to the summer of 2017 and our 2017-2018 school year, the Leadership Team is expanding our reach and our events! Starting in June 2017 we had our first Tar Heel Tuesday which will take place on the first Tuesday of every month. This is a way for our alumni to check in with the Leadership Team and to build a stronger sense of community within A2C2. On July 27th A2C2 will host a Summer Send-Off for UNC’s newly enrolled first year and transfer students in the greater Ann Arbor area. We look forward to more game-watches, happy hours, and another Holiday Party for our 2017-2018 year. We are also looking to partner with local organizations for volunteer opportunities. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to email the Leadership Team at aacarolinaclub@gmail.com. Thank you for your continued involvement with A2C2 and Go Heels!
